Those three words really bother me. Especially, when it is the chief ingredient in a piece of food. I read that and picture, well, a chicken being separated from itself by a machine. No thanks....No thanks.
I am a music buff. I love music and recently have started to play music. It's one of my many vices. All healthy and all very, very satisfying. I would name them, but the mystery of The Real Bont is what makes this whole thing fun. I recently read that Steven Tyler is leaving Aerosmith, to which Joe Perry (guitar) came out and said that the band is not breaking-up, but rather looking for a new lead singer. OK, Joe. Aerosmith sans Steven Tyler is like The Rolling Stones with someone other than Mick behind the mic. No Steven Tyler = No Aerosmith. It's that simple. Here is a band that partied as hard and as careless as any other band in the world for years, until they made a pact to go clean and sober together in 1986. Amazing and apparently successful until recently, when it was rumored that Tyler was hitting the sauce with such propensity that some were trying to check him into rehab . This could be the reason why as quickly as he said he was pursuing a solo career, came on stage live with Joe Perry the other night and proclaimed that Aerosmith was going nowhere. Dude, make up your mind and 'just push play'.
I'm out...to do what? I may tell you next time...

Discretion
It seems that with the exceptional growth of social networking sites that privacy has pretty much gone out the window. The amount of information out there about ourselves is overwhelming and downright scary at times. So, why add to that by putting up so much information about yourself in your status updates? It's almost as if the filter that we engage in real life around strangers is thrown to the wayside online. Status updates that include your upcoming vacation, duration of said vacation and where you hide your spare key are becoming the norm and are done without hesitation. Sensitive information about your personal lives, such as how awful your husband/wife is or how rough your divorce proceeding was today are just not meant for the internet world. I'm sure that there are at least a few people on your friends list that you don't know oh that well. Maybe one or two that you accepted, just to accept. You never know who is watching your profile. I, personally, like to post observations, quotes and random tasks that I have already performed. It does surprise me at times how care-free people are about sensitive information when it comes to updating their cyber-life. I choose to be private about my personal life both in reality and on social networking sites and that is just fine by me.
Tonight, Pedro Martinez pitches in what should be an epic battle between two Playoff proven pitchers. Love him or hate him, he is one of the greatest pitchers of our generation. One of the greatest pitchers of all-time. A generation of great pitchers have come and gone during our adult lives. Maddux, Clemens, Johnson, Schilling, Glavine have all left the game to enjoy hitting out of a sand trap in some desert region Golf Course. All (except "Roid Man" himself, Roger Clemens, will make the Hall of Fame). Pedro Martinez was probably the most dominant and most exciting of the aforementioned pitchers. Not only with his pitching, but his personality, which over the years has rubbed many fans the wrong way. I know that Yankee fans will never say anything good about him or acknowledge just how great he was in his prime, but you cannot say for a second that you wouldn't have wanted him winning 17-20 games every year for your team while striking out roughly 290 hitters every year. Tonight may be the last time we see Pedro Martinez, one of the greatest pitchers of all-time pitch in a big game on the big stage. I don't love him nor do I hate him. I am a fan of the game and tonight may very well be the last time that I get to see him pitch a huge game, such as Game 6 of the World Series. The fan in me wants to see him pitch really well and walk off on his own terms, so that the fan in me can remember where I was when I saw unarguably the greatest pitcher of my generation throw his last meaningful pitch in what has been one stellar career. Enjoy and hope for snow...

Day of Reckoning...
Today is Election Day. There are some possible seat changes coming in my town. I always feel funny going to vote. You walk in and are greeted by some interesting people. Some are nice as pie and others make you want to walk right back out the door. There is usually a random person who directs you to the available booth and asks you if you have done this before. Even if I hadn't, I'm pretty sure I would figure out how to pull a lever. Anyway, I did my duty today and I feel indifferent.
Apparently, Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner) on the late '80's hit TV show 'Full House' has a new book out. It goes into great detail about her drug/booze addiction following the end of 'Full House'. Now, I don't know if many people would care and that goes for any celebrity or quasi-celebrity. Everyone has drank too much or had a period of their life where they binged kinda, sorta hard. Most people have experimented with drugs of some sort. Does this mean they should go write a book about a time in their life when they went to Clubs/Parties, drank and smoked some dope one Summer way back? I don't think people would care about a book that I wrote telling of the same tales. Maybe they would...I don't know. The point is, I don't think that is news. Most child stars after the show they stared in has ran its course has gone on the very same binge. People drink, people do drugs and then people write books.
Man, does Phillies Manager Charlie Manuel have an interesting dilemma, if this World Series should go seven games. If they stave off elimination tomorrow night in NY and force a Game 7, due up to pitch for the Phils would be their enigmatic lefty, Cole Hamels. Last year's World Series MVP and this years headache. After getting shelled in Game 3 in which he lasted only 4 1/3 innings while surrendering five runs, he went on record as saying "I can’t wait for [the season] to end. It’s been mentally draining. At year end, you just can’t wait for a fresh start." As you can imagine, that struck a few of his teammates the wrong way, most notably Brett Myers. After last night's game, Myers walked past Hamels and said "What are you doing here? I thought you quit.", to which Hamels replied with an unknown expletive. Either way, Manuel will make the wrong choice. If he by-passes last year's World Series MVP Hamels because of his apparent ambivalence towards this Season, he gets roasted. If he chooses to go with someone new, a la J.A. Happ, he gets roasted for starting someone who has yet to throw a pitch in this Series over a proven starter. I would not want to be Charlie Manuel if this Series goes to a seventh game. Stay tuned...

Bittersweet
Today was bittersweet in a way. Today, I realized why it was that we did not work out, but I also saw why I fell in love with you. Digest that one for a minute...
Did you ever hear a song that did absolutely nothing for you, but when hearing the very same song in a different setting or attached to something of interest, you then realized that you in fact like it? Well, that is exactly how I feel about Pearl Jam's new song "The Fixer". Now, I know that Pearl Jam has not been relevant since Clinton's first term, but their new song did absolutely nothing for me until I heard it attached to a clip of the ALCS between the Angels and Yankees. Something about hearing it during that segment did something for me that when hearing it independent of anything did not.
I saw this morning on the news, a ginormous ship that was comprised mostly of the steel from the Twin Towers. Now, I thought all of this steel was shipped immediately to a junkyard in Germany under tight security. Now, it was made into a ship. That strikes me as odd.
Till next time...

Inauspicious
Nothing like waking up to water in your basement. Samantha and Charlotte are off shopping and "Big" doesn't want to talk to me. Nope, this is not 'Sex and the City', this is a day in the leif of Bont. I jammed tonight with the legendary T. George McArdle. He is truly a very talented musician who brings out the best in me. This is the beginning of a nice little Jazz band. Due date of 2012. Five songs in three months, not bad. I am dressing as David A. Leifer for halloween, no not really, but yes. This time for laughs, not as an admirer. Why do bad things happen in three's? Why did I lose my hair? Why do Umps suck so badly in games that matter so much? Lastly, how did Doogie Howser end his blogs on his Macintosh? Goodnight, Blog-o-sphere.
